How to Prepare for a Home Relocation in Less Than a Month
Planning and organizing a home relocation is much more difficult than you have ever thought. Many people believe that all of their duties are related to hiring experienced and insured movers. In fact, this is one of the last steps to be made. Four weeks in advance.
Call your utility service providers to inform them that from next month, you will be no longer living in the property, so they should either disconnect you from their services or sign a contract with the new tenants. You’d better call your bank and tell them that you will be changing your billing address. This way, you will start receiving your account information at your new address. If you have subscribed to certain magazines and newspapers, call their editorials as well and let them know they need to redirect the deliveries.
Three weeks in advance.
Inform your neighbors that you will be moving out. Sort all of your stuff and organize a garage sale to get rid of the things which you no longer need and do not want to clutter your new home. You can use the money to finance your move.
Two weeks in advance.
Call the movers that you have chosen and book them for the date you need them to load and transport your stuff. Sign a contract with them.
One week in advance.
Pack in boxes and label all of the stuff which you are getting transported. Secure them well with tape so that they are delivered safely. Leave only a suitcase full of essentials that you will need. Arrange the transportation of your pets as well!
